Telcare, the company behind the world’s first wireless-enabled Blood Glucose Meter, has partnered with global connected service enabler Telenor Connexion for its international marketing initiative.
Telcare seeks to aggressively accelerate market share to realize their vision of becoming the global leader in wireless mHealth solutions for people with diabetes and other chronic illnesses.
“By partnering with Telenor Connexion we can significantly accelerate our entry into the global market. When evaluating M2M service providers, Telenor Connexion stood out due to its global coverage footprint, especially in key markets where people are increasingly affected by diabetes, as well as Telenor’s network redundancy, and its reliable and secure services”, says Jonathan Javitt, MD, MPH, CEO & Vice Chairman at Telcare.
Per Simonsen, CEO at Telenor Connexion says:
“mHealth is much more than putting a computer between the doctor and the patient. It’s about connecting patients in real-time with their caregiver and giving them immediate and accurate data on which to take clinical action. Telenor Connexion has more than 12 years’ experience of connecting business and life critical applications, and the flexibility and quality of our services allow our clients to maximize patient acceptance, satisfaction and compliance.”
Telenor Connexion provides managed connectivity and services for Telcare’s comprehensive diabetes solution. The Telcare wireless glucose meter with two-way messaging transmits to an FDA-cleared back-end clinical server and a suite of smartphone apps in order to provide a complete ecosystem of care. The server connects directly to electronic medical record systems, while the phone apps are used by parents of children with diabetes and those caring for elderly people with diabetes. The solution is FDA- and HIPAA- compliant.
The Telcare platform is currently being implemented by health insurers and employers who currently care for more than 1 million people with diabetes.
Worldwide, there are more that 100 million addressable patients with diabetes, 28 million of whom are in the U.S. Current global sales for diabetes testing solutions exceed $12 billion. All U.S. health insurers, both public and private, and all EU, Canadian, and GCC health insurers reimburse for diabetes testing.
Telenor Connexion will be showcasing Telcare’s innovative diabetes solution at the mHealth Summit in Washington D.C. on December 3-5. Please visit the GSMA stand 311.
