Numerex a leading single source provider of secure machine-to-machine (M2M) products and services, today announced its participation in various M2M standardization activities around TIA 2011, the US Telecommunications Industry Association’s annual industry event.
TIA 2011 will take place at the Gaylord Texan Hotel and Convention Center in Dallas, Texas, May 17-20, 2011.
In particular, Dr. Jeffrey O. Smith, Chief Technical Officer of Numerex, will be chairing the first international meeting of the Global Standards Collaboration (GSC) M2M Standardization Task Force (MSTF) on May 18th, which will gather M2M experts from all over the world. Global M2M trends and perspective will be reviewed in order to foster harmonization and compatibility of various standardization undertakings currently underway worldwide.
Numerex is playing a central role in promoting the vital importance of standardization for the global M2M industry in close liaison with TIA and its members.
“M2M is an area that has received considerable attention at TIA in the last few years, as it is arguably one of the fastest growing segments of the telecommunications industry. We are extremely pleased to host the GSC MSTF meeting, convened by Dr. Smith of Numerex,” said Grant Seiffert, President of TIA.
“M2M is one of the key educational tracks that we will feature during TIA 2011: Inside the Network.”
Following the GSC MSTF meeting, Dr. Smith will also moderate a panel on M2M standardization in the 4:30 p.m. session of the M2M track at TIA 2011 on May 19th, and chair the TIA TR-50 engineering committee meeting on smart device communications. The TR-50 subcommittee on requirements and architecture and the TR-50 Ad Hoc group on smart device security will also meet during TIA 2011.
“Numerex views M2M standards as critical catalysts of the market expansion that will rapidly generate economies of scale. We have been working actively with groups and forums around the world to speed up the arrival of M2M standards,” said Stratton Nicolaides, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Numerex.
“TIA’s vision regarding the direction of M2M parallels Numerex’s. We have found in TIA an ally that understands the market dynamics and its requirements.”
