New mobile hotspot and USB devices take advantage of increasing network speeds with upcoming 4G LTE network rollout and HSPA+ compatibility
Sierra Wireless today announced it will supply the first devices for AT&T’s 4G LTE network.
The AT&T Mobile Hotspot Elevate 4G (also known as the Sierra Wireless AirCard® 754S mobile hotspot) and the AT&T USBConnect Momentum 4G (the Sierra Wireless AirCard 313U USB modem) will enable mobile consumers and professionals to do more on-the-go from laptops, tablets, and other mobile devices. Both devices will be available to AT&T customers this summer.
AT&T recently announced plans to roll out its 4G LTE network in five markets – Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio – later this summer. With the AT&T Mobile Hotspot Elevate 4G and the AT&T USBConnect Momentum 4G, customers with 4G LTE coverage in those markets will be able to enjoy 4G LTE speeds as the network is rolled out in the coming weeks. Outside of the 4G LTE footprint, these devices will access AT&T’s HSPA+ network, providing consistently fast mobile broadband speeds. AT&T has announced plans to offer 4G LTE service to customers in at least 15 markets, covering 70 million Americans, by the end of 2011.
“Increasingly, people have integrated their online and offline lives through social media, video conferencing, gaming, and entertainment. LTE offers true, untethered, rich multimedia that provides a great customer experience for the way people live online today,” said Dan Schieler, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Mobile Computing for Sierra Wireless.
“Sierra Wireless is thrilled to continue our longstanding collaboration with AT&T and to make our two latest LTE devices available to AT&T customers in coordination with the network launch.”
AT&T Mobile Hotspot Elevate 4G
The new AT&T Mobile Hotspot Elevate 4G allows you to share your AT&T 4G connection with up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices, including laptops, tablets, e-book readers, and portable gaming devices, for truly mobile access from all your gadgets. The mobile hotspot is remarkably easy to use, with no software to install and an LCD screen to guide you through the initial setup. The LCD screen provides the Wi-Fi network ID and security key for quick reference, plus other important information like remaining battery life, network signal strength, and the number of devices connected, as well as device alerts and messages from AT&T. View and customize the hotspot’s settings easily through a web browser, which also provides access to the integrated standalone- and assisted-GPS for mapping and location-based services.
AT&T USBConnect Momentum 4G
The AT&T USBConnect Momentum 4G allows you to do more on-the-go by taking advantage of AT&T’s 4G network where available. Simply plug the USB device into your laptop and do your email, surf the web, upload your photos, and watch your favorite shows while you’re out and about. The Sierra Wireless Setup Wizard gets you up and running in about a minute, and managing your connection is simple on both PC and Mac laptops through the AT&T Connection Manager. The AT&T USBConnect Momentum 4G also makes it easy to transfer and carry files with you, using the expandable memory slot that supports microSD cards up to 32 GB in size. Integrated GPS provides support for location-based services and commonly used mapping applications for checking driving directions and finding local services while running errands or in between client meetings.
Both devices also support global connectivity in more than 200 countries at international roaming rates.
